Aftermarket computers

Anyone have any experience with a Unichip computer? I've got a '99 SR5 3.4 auto 2wd, and upgraded to TRD stainless headers with a Borla cat-back system, K&N cold air, and a Poweraid intake spacer. The check engine light came on after the headers, and the trouble code reports a lean bank (duh). With so much more air coming in, and better flow going out, the fuel pump's output isn't enough under normal load (like on-ramps, not mountains) so a re-set only keeps the light off till I load the engine. A new pump & 2 new O2 sensors didn't make a bit of difference. Help me Obi-Wan!

Lose the spacer to start since all that is doing is creating a "space",they don't work on direct port engines.

Any of those chips on a naturally aspirated motor simply aren't worth the questionable gains on a 3rd gen.

Sometimes the headers combined with the higher flowing exhaust is flowing too well and has moved the powerband higher up in the rpms costing you a bit of torque down low and is actually making you slower.

Ok, I can see your point on the spacer, and a different torque band. At this point, I'm only considering an aftermarket computer to be able to change the fuel maps, so the check engine light doesn't come on, and change the fuel/air ratio to the "take me to the dealer for repairs" factory setting. Any advice, if not a different chip? Also, I've got a California model with the second cat, which I plan to delete now that I moved out of state, but I fear that'll exacerbate this fuel starvation condition.
