When I had the FJ 60 and the 91 4WD truck, the IPF and Hella aftermarket drop in replacements for the stock sealed beams were outstanding, in terms of light output and beam spread, which is all that matters.
I'd love to get the equivalent lighting power on my 3rd gen 4R.
Unfortunately, quantifying the light output and beam are virtually impossible with the worthless measurements(Lumens, anyone?) provided by the industry and the well-meaning but ultimately unsatifactory "test reports" in the automotive press.
You just don't know until you see it operate.
I put brighter bulbs in mine(60/65 instead of the standard 55/60), plus an aftermarket wiring harness from rallylights.com, and called it a day.
