aftermarket heated seat question

well, when i bought my 99 4runner, the previous owners put in a aftermarket heated seat, but the idiots never finished.

so now i have one wire left that needs to get 12v to it.

question is, what is the best wire to tap this wire into? i'd like to to be an accessory wire so that the seat will switch off with the car.

the wire is currently ran to the fuse box in the drivers side kick.

i have a 1999 4runner v6 limited if that matters.

The most important thing is that the circuit for the heaters is adequate for the amount of amps needed. You need to make sure you check how many amps this circuit will draw and that the circuit is protected (fused) properly. I would think that this circuit will need more amps then the average circuit and will require a independent/separate circuit just for the heaters. I'm assuming the control circuit is separate and this is the hook-up you are referring to. The power source for this circuit could be any 12v source that is off when the vehicle is not running, such as the cigarette lighter outlet. The two circuits are linked by a relay (source/power circuit and the control circuit) .

What size is the fuse? How many wires need to be connected? The seat manufacture should be able to supply you a wiring diagram. This would be very helpful.

one wire for positive 12v

no wiring diagram for the seat

all i need is one wire hooked into switched 12V

You definitely need a 15 amp circuit. There should be an auxiliary circuit in the fuse box. If you tie it in an existing circuit there is the possibility of overloading the source circuit and you will be blowing fuses. You need to look at a wiring diagram for the 4Runner. Maybe someone with one can give it a look and let you know!
