Hey everyone. My 2008 didn't come with a factory hitch. I have been looking online for a hitch, but most sites I've been to say that the rear bumper cover must be trimmed. I don't want to trim the cover if I don't have too. Anyone know of a hitch that will work without having to trim or replace the rear bumper cover?

I installed a Curt hitch and did no cutting. You will remove the rear tow hook and use the holes in the frame for the hitch.
Only mod that will be needed is to bend out the wiring harness holder to plug in a 7to4 pin adaptor. I haven't bent mine out yet, but the fix looks really simple.
The Curt hitch is really nice looking and made well. Welds all look good and the finish is well done. I like that they are the tubular type of hitch, my last hitch on a Dodge was square and I really prefer the looks of this one on the Toyota.
I'm not near my truck right now, but maybe someone has a picture.
I paid $150 shipped to my door w/ a locking receiver pin. Install was easy w/ a second hand to help hold it in place while bolting in. HTH

Zero trimming.....That's why I went with this one. Other brands I looked at stated "trimming required" and I didn't want that at all!
Very easy install, And a great looking product....only way it could look better is if it were powder coated! It's a nice Gloss black finish and the bar itself is entirely sealed off. Some towbars are open on the ends, and here in FL Rust and corrosion are a constant.
I did a lot of shopping and searching, and by far this was the best for my needs and wants. Wish I had taken pics, maybe this trip while I am at home I'll start taking pics of my different mods and link them in my Signature. I've found that quite useful when I look at others threads, I guess it's time I do the same.

I just put the Curt 13445 on yesterday. Pretty simple install and looks good too. The hardest part for me was taking the old one off. Sticks out about an inch more than the stock one. I'll try to get some pictures today. The wiring mount plate is a pretty solid piece. I would suggest taking it off first, bending it so it is nearly flat and reinstall before putting the hitch on. Also don't tighten the bolts until they are all in.

Price came up a little I see, I bought mine only about 6-8 weeks ago and spent $150 shipped.....
Regardless, I would have gladly paid $170 for the hitch, it was EXACTLY what I wanted once I got it.
Hope you like it as well, And like was stated before you may want to go ahead and take the harness holder off before installation to ease the modification.

Trimming won't get the hitch any higher. It's just a snug fit and may compress the bumper cover up a bit. Usually it's just cutting the center square on the cover up a bit like the stock one.
I just installed the Hidden Hitch 70779 on My 04 V8. I went with this one over the Curt because my trailer has a heavy hitch weight. The HH 70779 is rated 7300 lbs WD & 730 hitch weight. The Curt is only rated 5500 lbs and 550 hitch weight. the HH 70779 fits good no triming required, make sure it is one that is manufactured after July 31, 2007 as they supplied new mounting hardware which increased weight ratings.
