Aftermarket HU + Power Antenna

Hey guys, this is my first post and needed to check if what I did was ok . So my have a 99 4Runner with 90k km on it.

Anyways I got a Kenwood MP345-U from bestbuy a while back, they they did the installation for free. The only issue I found was that as long as the car was on the antenna would always go up.

So today I took it apart and saw that they connected it to the ignition/red wire. In the manual I know it says to connect it to the blue wire so I tried and no luck nothing happened with the blue wire.

TL/DR:
In the end I just connected the blue/white wire(manual says it is for optional power amplifier or antenna control terminal) to the power antenna, since it allows me to turn off the radio and the antenna will at least go down. Is this alright to do?

I'm not positive, only because I don't know how the power antennas work. If its only a signal wire input to the antenna, and it has its own power source then you will be fine. If the antenna is drawing current off the radio, then I would excercize caution in using the remote wire. The remote wire is a low current wire, and its only purpose is to provide a signal to tell your amplifiers to turn on.

for the power antenna, their is a relay type circuit, when the antenna wire has a signal, it trips the relay to send power to the antenna motor for it to operate. different head units (aftermarket) have different antenna functions. some head units, will extend the antenna while its on. the alpine I have will only extend the antenna while radio is being used, if cd, or ipod is used, it will bring the antenna down
