I was wondering if having my old amp installed in my new 4Runner will make a difference in sound as I have a Pioneer headunit and factory speakers? Let me know.

^what he said, you won't notice that much sound quality improvement, but you certainly will get more loudness

Okay...I'll be honest here. I haven't found a video that's dedicated to showing how to open apart the doors on a '03 (not '04, not '05, but an '03 4RUnner). When I first upgraded my HU, there was a great difference in sound as expected but the speakers....they were too good to be true. I feel like they're not factory speakers, but instead aftermarket. It bangs too hard for them to be factory, and I haven't been able to blow a speaker yet. I just didn't want to say aftermarket speakers because I haven't been able to take a peek inside. I wonder how much installation is. I had a pair of subs before I sold it to someone else here on T4R, and I was never able to find a buyer for my amp which has been sitting around forever in my room. Might as well have it installed, but I'm just concerned for the costs of installation as well as the quality. I will be looking into prices for installation as well as labor work.
The door panel on an '03 can't be much different than the newer 4th gen models. I'd take the doors off and have a look.
If you add a powerful amp to the factory speakers you'll probably just end up blowing them. I have no idea what the max RMS power for the factory speakers is but it can't be more than 30 or 40 watts. So if your amp is putting out 75 per channel it won't be hard to blow the speakers. Of course if you find out they're aftermarket speakers you'll just have to look at them and see what kind of power they can handle.

The door panel removal is the same from 03-09 nothing changed, I moved from an 03 to an 08 and it's the exact same procedure.
From my experience the stock speakers are junk and the non-jbl speakers don't even have real magnets, they are electromagnets. The JBL system was quite impressive for a stock system, but the tweeters were garbage, and most of them were blown before I even bought the truck, I changed all my 03 JBL speakers out to aftermarket and couldn't have been happier with the change in quality. But it's all in your personal taste. I'm currently working to run all new speaker wires through the doors in order to put new stock speakers in my non-jbl 08 4runner, but I'm already running aftermarket speakers on stock wiring and to me it sounds way better

I heard that most of the people who swap out the HU for an aftermarket notice a bigger difference in bass adjustment. Maybe the stock system downplays Bass to preserve speaker life or something?
