Aftermarket keyless entry fobs

I have the set I bought on eBay and the set I bought on amazon packed up for return and the return addresses are the same despite being different seller names so there is zero difference between the amazon and the eBay options...Amazon is just more expensive.

Ahhh, okay. That makes much more sense.

It's funny, sometimes Ebay seems like the cheaper, less reliable option, but it clearly has a lot of the same sellers. I guess you just have to watch out for fly-by-night companies, but the rating system actually makes that a bit easier.
 
Grey key fobs showed up today and they don't work either. Is it possible that I have a weird one-off alarm system? Is there one that could be installed at the dealer if it didn't come with it from the factory that uses a different key fob?

Wow, really? You got these exact ones and they aren't working?

If you found that body ECU with the green button and followed the instructions, then I'm all out of ideas. :shrug:

Yep, those are all confirmed not to work. I'm telling you, buy the one I linked. I know, it looks exactly the same, but it's not! Look at the part number.

EDIT: Wait a minute, the links have changed since I posted them! Grrrrr. The first link I posted is broken now, and the second goes to one that is no longer the same product. This happened within the last week. I checked my order history and it's the first link, which is now broken. Says the product doesn't exist. Sorry man, wish I would have gotten the 2-pack so I could just send you one!

EDIT EDIT: Okay, even though the second link I put up is a different listing, it looks like it's just a two-pack of the same part number that I got. I know it says 1998-2001, but if you have the same body ECU with the green button, then it should work for you. Thanks! I didn't even think to look at part numbers. Just been looking at the transmitter ID code. Just placed the order. Here's hoping!
 
a little off topic but bot my fob's were trashed so i had a viper remote start installed and came with new fob's. its nice on those cold days too. only thing is no more button for rear window auto roll down but can live without it or use my old fob as necessary..
 
Interestingly, it doesn't look like they sell anything for 97s. It just takes you to the instructions page, but no link to buy anything. Those do look exactly like the ones I've been getting on eBay and Amazon though. I imagine they're all coming from the same place.
 
I bought a aftermarket fob for the 97 puppy hauler a little while ago. When I went to order another for my 97 it wasn’t available anymore.

I tried two fobs from a fob place that had the correct FCC numbers and none would program. They both worked but wouldn’t program.

I ended up buying a used fob on eBay for 40 dollars. It programmed instantly.

I think you're the first with a '97 that has firsthand experience. Any chance you can find the link to what you bought?

I just searched for a fob for my year on eBay and bought it.

It’s sad that the aftermarket FOB I bought on Amazon for 15 dollars isn’t available anymore. It has longer range than the factory one does.

Autozone has a FOB tester, that’s how I knew the two fobs I bought were transmitting. The LED behaved differently between my OEM FOB and the replacement I tried to program. None would program.

Got the used OEM fob and was able to program it just fine. Not sure why none of the aftermarket ones worked for me.
