Aftermarket Lights

Looking to get another pair of headlights for the 4Runner so I can toy around between painting them black and maybe doing a projector retrofit into them. The OEM lights through the dealer are quite pricey (even Partznet) at somewhere around $250/ea. Doing some looking around on eBay, I found these from this vendor (and others as well) selling them at about $100/ea.

What do you guys think? These vendors claim quality meeting and/or exceeding the factory housings, and in some cases 'insurance replacement parts'. If all seems good, I'll by a set that'll cost me the cost of one.

in that case if you want to do retrofit, i would only stick with OEM housing. first of all, you don't know how is the fitment on that aftermarket one, second you don't know the quality.

if the aftermarket housing is going to leak down the road after retrofitting, moisture/water damage to the projectors and the time/labor to redo it again is not worth.

i bought mine from partznet for $212/ea last year, it is a bit pricey but it is well worth it.

Eric, you have TL projectors, right? Either way, do you have any extensive pics of your project that I could peer over to see how they were done on yours? I'm especially curious as to how the rear of the projector bowl is sealed off to the back of the housing.

no, i have S2k inside my housings. i had Caesar @ Lightwekz did the retrofit for me.

you can sign up @ hidplanet.com and there's a lot of retrofit info to learn from them.

let me know if any question during the process, i'll help you out as much as i can.

Thanks, already have my membership there. Have had it for awhile and more or less just lurk there. I tried to retrofit in the past on my Grand Cherokee and in the end just ended up with the housings F'd.
