Aftermarket Nav and DVD (Custron)

I'm hoping someone on here may be able to give me some direction here. I searched the forum, and found some things, but nothing that really helped.

I am interested in buying this GPS unit for my 07 SR5, Non-JBL with steering wheel controls.

The head unit is a Custron T1062TYT.

I emailed the company (based in China), asking if this would work with my particular vehicle, and wheel controls, and got this response:

"There is no can-bus box on this player, if your original car doesn't have it either, the steering wheel control function can be used."

Anyone here know if this will work or not? I want something that looks OEM, and I'm not really interested in a Pioneer, Kenwood, etc where I would have to install an additional mounting plate, etc.

Oh man. I started looking into these Chinese-based GPS units for another car. Once I read more and more about user's experiences, I decided no thanks. The workmanship is shoddy, and the software is nowhere near ready for a daily driver. Forget about support, it's based in China and once they have your money, they really don't have any reason to talk to you.

Of course it's up to you if you want to take the risk. If all you're concerned about is asthetics and a $10 mounting plate, go ahead and buy an OEM nav unit.

Agreed on the idea of sending money to China and them not caring. That is precisely why I'm trying to get some background on these guys...

Nonetheless, found a company called Ottonavi, based in California that makes some nice looking units. I saw there was a post on this at:
