Aftermarket Rear Spoiler

Has anyone out there added a rear spoiler to their T4R?

I just bought an '07 T4R Limited (Certified too) and it is LOADED. It had everything I could possibly want except the rear spoiler. I was really hunting for a Sport Edition because I like the look and the X-REAS so much over the standard suspension. But, when I found a Limited with X-REAS, nav, air suspension, & all the rest, I just had to pull the trigger. Now I just need to add the spoiler and maybe find a sport hood & chrome grill.

-Anyone have experience with this company?
-How hard to install? I assume I just need to connect the brake light wire to the light in the spoiler and screw it on.
-Should I have a local autobody match my paint or trust that if I order it painted (with factory color code) it will match?
-Will it block my BU camera?

Welcome to T4R.org.

It will not block the factory backup camera as it's mounted on the driver side underneath the license plate garnish. The camera is pointed down, so you can't see what's above it. As far as lighting goes, there's no effect on it. Your license plate and backup lights provide adequate lighting to make out the area behind you, not to mention the parking lights and/or brake lights.
 
I have an 07 SR5 and I got my spoiler from spoilerdepot.com. The first one I got had a crack in it probably due to shipping from what they said. I returned it and got the next one and it was good to go. It was painted and matched perfectly.

I took it to a body shop to get installed. I wasn't comfortable with drilling into my car myself. The body shop did a good job and charged me $100 i think. But I took it to 2 other body shops and they didn't want to touch it. They said if it wasn't OEM that it might not fit right.

Good experience in all though, customer service was good, especially after receiving the first one with a crack. FYI, spoiler depot will send you the spoiler without the hump. The newer 4runners have a hump on it which I like, but the one without the hump still looks good, and many people prefer that one too.
 
Yeah, I have the one on the vehicle and the one on the spoiler. But you can't really notice the one on the vehicle because of the spoiler. In fact, most 4runner are like this. If you're out on the street, try to notice all the ones you see out there.
 
Have you had any luck finding info on the sport hood? I'd love to switch mine out for the sport hood also.
 
From where? i'd like to get in on that. Is it painted? And who would you have it install it for you?
 
My 08 has the spoiler without the hump. I believe it was added at the port. Southeast Toyota is famous for their port add ons.

IMHO I think the one without the Hump as LL21 put it looks better. It is just slightly higher than the roofline. The one with the hump would surely pull more air down on the back window, Which could help keep the window clear.

I also have the 3rd brake light behind the spoiler but I don't think it lights up??? Not Sure though. Of course the one on the spoiler does.

check out Koz's runner. He has a Limited with the sport hood if I remember right.
 
I do actually like the larger spoiler with the hump, but I would be happy either way. In the big picture the difference is minor, to me. I found an OEM spoiler (painted) for $228 at on online dealer parts site. Only problem is, when I called to ask about it, they seem to believe it will ONLY work on the 2008's. I don't understand why it wouldn't work? Nothing has changed between '07 and '08, as far as I can tell. They are either unwilling or just too lazy to find out for me. They just kept reading their computer screen to me, "says ear day only fit on da oh eights, so day won't fit da oh sevens den" They can be frustrating sometimes. Anyway, here's the link...

OEM Spoiler

Can anyone see a reason that this won't work on a 2007 Limited, even though the dealer parts guy, says it will only fit an '08?
