Aftermarket remote start - what to expect?

Whats confusing? what I have is the Viper 5706V remote start which is expandable to include the smart start app. I di misspeak by saying I have the "smart start" which is the module/app, but other than that, everything is correct.

The remote was configured to go 25 mins, and it has the temp sensor?
And as stated earlier, If I get the extra module, I can use the app.

How about I put it like this?

I clarified what YOU have a Viper 5706v. Optional add on is vsm300 or vsm350 module. That is subscription based.

That's a 2 way lcd remote security and remote starter. I'm not trying to split hairs here, just clarification of your post.

Thanks for the tips. My new-to-me 4Runner does not have remote start like my previous vehicle. I travel with my dog and I need to be able to lock the vehicle and have the a/c running for stops. I hope to find one that integrates the climate control into the remote start.

I just bought a 2002 SE 4runner for my wife and it seems the keyless entry is a bit wonky and unreliable so I would like to get a good alarm/keyless entry on it. I will just go ahead and replace all the door lock motors too.

I would also like to put an alarm on our "16 TEP as well. My buddy always recommended DEI stuff. I would like to be able to do it myself and make a video. I dont know much yet but can learn and research it

any help is appreciated!

I disliked the factory remote start on the '10 TE because of poor range, the button sequence used, and the fact that the engine dies when unlocking the door. On the '15 TEP I went with the COMPUSTAR & EZ-GO system and like that a lot. Found out the EZ-GO battery will drain if I leave it too close or in the vehicle but it can be deactivated. Compustar fob easily has 4x the range the factory one has, and with the smart phone app thingy and the ability to upgrade to gps tracking when my boy gets his license. Viper was the other manufacturer on my short list. I had an auto-elec shop do install and I did have to take it back so it could be set up where the ez-go would unlock all doors.
