Aftermarket replacement off rear E-locker

Hi guys, as the title says... My e-locker don't work anymore. I'm not willing to pay 1200$ for that part, so I am asking you guys if you have any experience with arb locker or something like that.

So you pushed the button, it didn't work and now you need to replace the complete unit? Did you do any trouble shooting at all. I highly doubt the locker itself has gone bad, more likely an issue with the switch or something simple.

No, power goes to the motor but nothing moves inside. The locker on the diff. is 1200$, not the complete assembly. Do you know something that can help me?

ARB lockers are great, extremely strong and more reliable than the e-locker, but you'll be spending nearly $1k (locker, compressor, install). The compressor is good for inflating tires and stuff.
I second pat161s comments. The most common cause of e-locker failure is a problem with the actuator motor on the outside of the 3rd member. Corrosion is the killer there. Disassemble the motor, clean it up and chances are it'll work again.

Last one I tryed to lube didn't work, It's all aluminium or something like that in there...
Do you know where I can find a bolt on kit?(ARB)

Air lockers are sold all over the place, very easy to find. Google is your friend....
Hows your mechanical skills? You need special tools to fit them (hole tap, dial gauge, torque wrench, tooth contact dye etc). If you have ever rebuilt and installed a complete differential before then you should be ok, otherwise I would take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

Other brands of lockers include Aussie, Detroit, Eaton, Ox, Locrite, but not all are selectable.

I checked here and there and total price for ARB are about the same than a stock e-locker actuator so I'm gonna go with the stock one... I only use it in the winter or once in a while in sand.

Hey guys, just received an e-mail from ARB:

In order to utilize an air locker in your vehicle you will need to source a rear axle housing, third member, and ring and pinion from a non e-locker truck. Toyota had to modify these components to accommodate the electric locker making it non compatible with diffs for the non e-locker Tacoma.

That settles it for me, not interested in swapping a whgole diff.!!!
