Aftermarket rim selection help

I recently ordered a OME 3/2 lift . I am going to keep stock size tire for now and maybe go to a 275/70/17 or a 275/75/17 later on , but I don't want any bigger. I need to fit a spare.

Anyway when purchasing after market rims what should I look for ??
Are the 5th gens hub or lug centric ? Should I stay with stock offset and back spacing and just go with a wider ( 8" ) rim ?? I probably will go with black rims on my 11te Magnetic gray . Maybe some heavy spoked ones.

I need to start in getting some direction in this area. I will run these rims all year . even in winter .

285/70/17 will fit for the spare 4th and 5th are hub centric as far as I know and for rims a 17x8 with a 4.5 backspace with a 0 offset work well. As for heavy spoked rims the ultra gauntlets look cool. I am going to get those for my winter set-up with some 285 Bridgestone blizzaks. Hope this gives you some direction. Also in my opinion 265's will look tiny with that lift search iDriveat4r has some photos after his was lifted on 265's he is currently running 285's now.

Im afraid that they will look to small and I dont want bigger tires . crap .

My son has 265/70/17 on his 4th gen with a 3/2 OME and aftermarket rims and it looks fine . I'll have to see what it looks like with the rims on it.

The 285s were made for our trucks. It looks like a natural size tire on it. Not to big, not to small. Granted the 275s are only smaller by a fraction but the width makes it look better.

I have yet to get my spare swapped out, but when I do I think I am going to get the 255/80x17 so I don't lose departure angle with a wider tire. Plus I can run that crappy stock steel spare wheel with no problems then. I mean it is only a spare.

I would be interested in a 255/80 as well for a spare, anyone put one up underneath to see if it will fit? it is only a big bigger than 285, but still curious

I think there is plenty of room under mine, but with the KDSS getting in the way it might be tough for you. I might also go with the 275/70. Gosh I dont know, decisions decisions decisions.

Get 285. 265 looks dinky. That's what my TE is currenty suffering from, running 265 bfg at ko. Got the tires right before the lift. Gotta just bite the bullet one of these days and d9o the tires again.

Im kind of up in the air because there have been changes to lifts.

I bought a full OME set up . 884's in front w/shock/strut and Toytec superflex in back with OME shocks .

Issue is that apparently to some things have changed. At Toytec i have been told by one person that the springs alone will give me 2-2.25" WITHOUT spacers which is perfect for me , BUT another person says the new specs on them are a full 3" lift WITHOUT spacers so I did not order spacers at this time. So I talked to another vendor and they honestly do not know what the deal is , so it sucks right now , because I have NO IDEA where I will end up in height .

I wanted a mid lift with springs and new/better shocks . I was looking like more of a 2/1" or slightly more , not really a full blown 3/2. I feel thats to high for me and running 285's ( although the look awesome ) was not really what I wanted to do with the power of this engine and the gearing will make it a gas hog and even less powerful.

I was also told I have to go to dealer to get the VSC re-calibrated because my anti lock brakes maybe kicking in when it's not supposed to ..... wonderful !!!

The 883's give 1.5 and the 895E's give 1.5 maybe that's the route you should go then? According to the ARB site it does seem the 884's for the 5th gen give 3in I ordered mine before that change I did topout spacers and got alittle over 4in up front.

Yes either they changed the springs or they act differently on the 5th gen than they do on the forth gen. Now see I've been told the 895E will do 1.5" , but was told the 883 will give 2-2.25 (all without spacers.) That set up would be good with a set of 5100's at all the corners then I will be able to tweek it up almost an inch if needed. I will do a search for the ARB site your talking about. Curious to see .

Me personally I would install the lift and see where you end up at it is possible the springs do lift 3in by themselves. If you install and it looks good with 265s then your good if need be then go for the 275's

I could do that and with a set of 5100's should be able to level it a bit . Wouldn't you think ?

On Toytecs website they don't recommend running the Bilsteins with OME springs. Me personally I wouldn't want to preload an already stiffer spring

I just saw that Salsa red one that popped up in the lift section with the Toytec ultimate lift and 285's on stock rims im getting swayed . That is one sweet ride and looks good with the 285 Nitto TG's on stock wheels even. if my truck sat and looked like that Id think Id be happy.

I am waiting for an OME lift . 3" front 884's (w/o spacers)and 2" rear with Toytec Superfex coils , full OME shocks at all 4 corners.

I am second guessing myself after seeing that Toytec Ultimate lift that was put up on this site of the Salsa Red TE with the 285 Nitto TG's on stock rims. Damn what a sweet stance !! And he is able to adjust for the lean with those adj. front coil overs too. Nice !!
