Aftermarket?

Well, seeing others get their 4runners, and even more so, their trail editions has put back some hope in me that i'll get my TE before the end of the year.

This has me contemplating about aftermarket accessories.

My original plan was to buy an '09 and work it as best as i can, adding things like a winch bumper, arb air lockers and RC suspension lift to name a few.

I've looked online trying to find aftermarket parts for the 2010 4runner, specifically regarding a winch bumper, cargo basket for the roof, and nerf bars/rock sliders for the bottom. Havent had any luck.

I know that the car is already pretty heavy so adding a bunch of stuff to it probably wont help, but a few hundred pounds shouldnt hurt right? :)

So have you guys found any aftermarket parts or information regarding when aftermarket parts would be available? and through what companies?

thanks,

When the 4th gen came out, there was quite a wait before aftermarket parts were available. More than a year. And back then the number of 4Runners sold was several times greater than the number of 5th gens that Toyota is likely to sell.

I hate to rain on your parade, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for aftermarket parts for the 5th gen.

thanks dude. i guess i'll have to drive her stock for a while until i can get my mits on some aftermarket parts. :D

I talked to a Toyota mechanic at my dealership last week and he said the suspension setup on the 2010 Limiteds and SR5's were the same as the 4th Gen but it is different on the Trail Ed's due to the KDSS. I asked because a lift and bigger tires/wheels are first on my list of mods(can't stand them 20 inch rims) on my Limited when it gets here. That and have a custom paint shop paint the plastic chrome to satin black. I finally got a VIN number today as it is at the port in Houston as of last Friday.Expected to be up here in Ft. Worth by this Friday!!!

thanks for the info dude.

so it looks like the sr5s and limited will get lifted before the trails do :P

:iagree: it'll take some time for the aftermarket to release products for the 5th. The only time they would have upgrades available is if Toyota has provided them a 4Runner to design parts with before its debut. Most of the aftermarket actually get help from owners by "borrowing" their vehicles to design and prototype parts on. IIRC, there's a couple members here who has loaned their 4th gens to aftermarket companies for the design of 4th gen specific parts and products.

Hey harper7,
Any idea how much for a custom paint job to paint the chrome to satin black?

This is a question that I have also been curious about.

It looks like the 2010 4Runner is based off a Prado 150 frame, and the 2010 FJ also received a new frame and suspension setup based off this same 150 frame. I know Demello Offroad has tried out aftermarket suspensions (I believe it was Icon) for the 2007-2009 FJ's (same parts as for 4th gen) on the 2010 FJ and it fit. So if it fits the 2010 FJ's, my hopes are it should also fit the 5th gen, in which case you would have access to all the FJ and 4th gen suspension.

My fingers are crossed... :D

Toyota shared some parts with the new land cruiser in Europe. besides waiting forever for the market over here to take notice why dont you try over seas. you might have to cross over parts from the hilux (tacoma over here) and maybe even the FJ. hope this helps

Toytec answer

Good news!!I had e-mailed Toytec asking them about their lifts for 2010 4runners and they answered me back this morning.:drummer:

Exact quote From Toytec support "Yes, everything fits the 2010 also":dancin:

Then I have leveling and lifts kits sitting here right now that will work on the 2010 then! The first few people wanting them will get a special deal,

Burtman Industries
just email or give me a call.

It definitely needs a leveling kit:

Also, I do have some Nerfs availalble for the 2010, so new I can't post all the info yet.

Harper7 I'll trade you my SR5 rims for your Limited wheels? Let me know!

I already traded them the first week I had it. Where are you located as you will probably have some local interest. It's just alot easier to do the trade local. We just met at Discount tire because they have to redo the TPMS's anyways. It was $20 total,or $10 each out the door and took 15 minutes.:hatsoff:

According to ARBUSA, the OME suspension kits specifically designed for the 5th Gen and the ARB Bumper should be out during the summer. This is information I got today from them.
