Aggressive looking street tires

I want to get away from all-terrain tires as 80% of my life is on road with off road being beach sand/dunes and utterly shit Rhode Island roads.

So with that said, I need a tire that’s good in snow, quiet, and performs well.

Options? Opinions?

I’m a big fan of the Nitto Ridge Grapplers in stock size. Have them on both of my 4Runners. Ride smooth, good in wet and snow, and look awesome.

If you want something between the Michelin Defender LTX and the Nitto Ridge Grapplers, take a look at the Yokohama Geolander G015 A/T. It's pretty road oriented and still has the sidewall tread and gaps of an A/T. I've been running them in factory size for 10K and very happy with them.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S is worth taking a look at for what you describe. I have them on my winter wheels and they perform well.

oh and do you get the steering wheel vibration around 60-70mph on the freeway?

trying to figure out if its my tires or just the overall geometry of the steering system

I sell tires for a living. Hands down the Michelin is better than the Bridgestone, in all conditions.

I have no experience with the older AT3s, but my 4S make no discernible noise over OEM tires on pavement. Of course they are relatively new and all ATs seem to get louder over time.

I absolutely did. And I solved it in increments:

Dobinsons suspension was a big help.
Lightly Sanding down the mating surface of my wheels (I'm machinist and all mating surfaces get cleaned).
My rotor(s) must have been out of balance because when I put all new on, the rest of the imbalance went away.

This ironically was an issue on my 08 tundra also. The rotors especially. I had a rear rotor that was not balanced. After several wheel rebalances...it was the rotors

Same situation here as I’m from RI as well. I use my 4wd for the snow in the winter and the sand out on East Beach. I found the stock Bridgestones to be pretty good even though most people here hate them. They’ve been good in the snow, great in the sand and I’m getting pretty good gas mileage as well. On a recent 600 mile trip to the mountains of Pennsylvania and back, I averaged 22.5mpg.

The AT2 has an average real life of 90,000 miles per Discount Tire store data. This is incredible.

My all terrain tires, any of them, are worthless offroad after 30k. In fact, 25k is a more realistic number.

But with street and sand use, the AT2s should indeed last forever.

I would consider them myself if they were better suited to SW desert terrain.

OR:

Nokian. Nokian AT or HT. Fantastic in rain and in snow. Doubt they will last anywhere near the Michelins but would bet on higher performance (without having used either!).

On my wife's 2016, we went with the BFG Advantage TA Sport LT. I loved the tires for the year we had them. Great wet weather, snow, and gravel,dirt traction. I think the are "three peak" rated. We traded for a 2019 TRD OR yesterday, so we are back to factory tires for a while.
