Check the Nokian Rotiiva AT Plus. Outstanding snow performance, quiet, and wearing quite well. You can get the 275/70/17 in C-Load too.

I agree - pretty good in the snow and sand, but not on muddy clay banks pulling my heavy 16' jon boat out of the water. I got rid of them before 30k. Discount Tire gave me $20 each with the dried clay still on the sidewalls.

The Michelin Defenders are a big step up in every category and have 12/32" tread with a good pattern. Now I don't even spin a tire - not even a little - pulling the boat up the hill - 3 61-pound batteries, my 200-pound buddy, cooler, 8 bass rods, carpet, 2 nice seats, too many tackle boxes, etc.

Same situation here as I’m from RI as well. I use my 4wd for the snow in the winter and the sand out on East Beach. I found the stock Bridgestones to be pretty good even though most people here hate them. They’ve been good in the snow, great in the sand and I’m getting pretty good gas mileage as well. On a recent 600 mile trip to the mountains of Pennsylvania and back, I averaged 22.5mpg.

That’s great! On all my sets I usually hit the 5-6 year point and replace them due to age rather than miles.

That's actually what happened. I had about 10k left in them, but the age made me replace. I was secretly hoping to get 100k out of them! : ))

i know you said no AT, but i would give the falken wildpeak AT3W a good look. Ive got them on mine and they are super quiet, supposedly handle very well in snow etc.

Another option is the hankook dynapro atm. I highly recommend them. I switched to Dick Cepek for a more aggressive tread, otherwise I would have bought another set of the dynapro.

I have been installing Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10's on every SUV I have onwed over the past several years and I can not speak more highly about them. They sit on the road great, have lots of street grip, snow grip, wet grip, gravel grip etc... I have never had one blow out. This thread should begin and end with these tires.

PS I also think they look really good too!
