I need to vent. Got my 4R in Feb. Since getting it, babied it. Not to say I didn't have some truckin fun. Washed, waxed, TLC'd to the max. Not even a swirl since taking her home.
SUNDAY, driving home from Brooklyn, some SOB decides he need to try and make a 3 lane change to get to his exit!!! We were in moderate traffic so we were only doing about 25-30. There was 10 feet or less between me and the car in front of me. I know I should leave more room but don't lecture me. He decided to cut through me and the car in front. Now. I need a new bumper, left heaedlight and foglight, fender and flare. I hit him in his right rear corner. From what my body guy said, I totaled his piece o' $h1t 92 Civic. The cops gave him a ticket for unsafe lane change. I have to see what the insurance determine cuz I want no out of pocket expense. But no matter what, my baby has been scarred and I am now seriously PISSED that I may have to push a rental for a week.

That almost happened to me this morning. I was in the right-hand lane and just about to speed up to close a gap left by sevral cars that had taken an offramp when some yahoo darted across multiple lanes to make the same offramp. At least if I had hit him it would have been obvious who was at fault - his car was almost perpindicular to me.

It must of been the morning for it. A brand new Honda Element pulled into my lane, I braked and tapped my horn. He was 1/2 in my lane and I was on the shoulder. He must not of seen me and he abruptly pulled back into his lane. We were side by side. When I drove by he then got back in my lane and turned on his brights. He was both mad and dumb. I was lucky to of missed him.

I am sorry about your mis-hap and I hope you can get your 4Runner fixed soon.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I hope nobody was injured.

It's always sad when you take such meticulous care of your car and someone has to wreck it for you. I hope everything turns out well for you in repairing your car.

I am sorry to hear about your accident. Make sure you bring it to a body shop that is reliable so your ride will look as good as new. I travel through Brooklyn sometimes and it is crazy driving there. What part of Brooklyn did this happen in? I had a few close ones on the Belt Parkway. That is the worst parkway ever!! Good luck and hope you get your 4Runner back soon.

Sorry to hear about the damages, but glad it was something you could walk away from. What was the idiot's excuse? It's really too bad the moron didn't remove himself from the gene pool in the process...

Totally feel for ya dude. I drive occasionally over the George Washington Bridge; going to Manhattan. It suxs. If you leave two feet more than a car length in front of you, then someone will take it.

Just remember it's just a truck. It can be fixed, and now maybe you will stop baby'ing it and treat as a truck.

It's now coming on 3 weeks since my accident. I still haven't gotten my truck back yet. The guy admitted fault, but it took Geico a week to get to me. On the day of the inspection, the other guy called back to change his story, and in the process, open an investigation. 3 days of that, proved that he was still in the wrong, and then the process can continue. GEICO is the best insurance guys in the world. Sunday makes it 3 weeks since the hit. I'll get the car back on Monday. Genuine parts, of course and a good body shop...on the other guy's tab.
Oh yeah, in three weeks, I've had 3 rental cars. '04 Ford Exploder...what a piece of excrement. The interior looks cheap and the drive inspires little confidence. Everything so wishy-washy. Does have a couple of nice touches but not well thought out overall. '03 Dogde Neon...Just terrible...OK for drivers' ed or a rental but that's it. Barrel bottom in quality of parts. Had it for 5 days and had small problem after small problem. Couldn't imagine if it was mine and stuck w/ out of pocket expenses. How can anyone test drive one of the above two vehicles and want to buy one. They must not test drive and Japanese trucks. '03 VW Jetta. Gotta say, I'm kinda impressed. Never big on European cars, but this thing is pretty fun to drive.
I really just want my truck back. And I will continue to baby it, damnit!

I have the same feeling of wanting my rig back as soon as possible. I have been in the shop since July 26th and it is not be ready until Sept 30th. Now I'm driving the GM Grand Prix. I am missing the feeling of driving up high comparing to now.
