Air box mod for '06 V8

Has anyone installed an air box mod to let more air into the engine of a 4th gen? I know many people with 3rd generations did this, but I cannot find any posts about 4th gens. There is also a secondary filter installed in the air box that looks like a thin piece of fabric. Can this be taken out to add any extra horsepower or at least to get a better sound from the engine?

Any help would be appreciated!

Ive seen is-f owners who cut a tennis ball sized hole in the airbox and they said it was better. I'll have to find u a link
