air conditioning help

i have a 1996 4runner and does not have air conditioning,

it has everthing else including sunroof. i got a deal from the

dealer for an acutal factory kit for it i guess there was still one

around , any way it cost 1400 bucks and includes install and

one year warrenty , is it worth it , the runner has only 69k miles

on it,very low for the year, i live in an colder climate and

would you it maybe two months. resale value would be

any greater,since its older and has a sunroof. any body do

this to there runner and happy they did it

Don't forget about the advantage of gaining a "dehumidifier" in the process. Any vehicle with AC that turns on the defroster/defogger gains the de-humidification factor of the dryer air output with the compressor engaged (not necesarrily cold air).

$1400 is a lot of money, but you will likely get most of that back in resale. Verify with the dealer that the system is Freon-free as the systems with Freon require a special refilling/purge certification which is harder and harder to find these days.

I think a good question would be, what part of the states do you live in? Are you going to be using the A/C a lot? If you find it uncomfortable to drive ($1400 worth of uncomfortable), then I would definitely recommend it. As boston_kevin said, you will get a lot of it back in resale. No a/c is something that a lot of people shy away from .... so, it would definitely make it easier to sell.
