Air Filter - 2005 V6 4Runner

I saw a "special" that the dealership offered where they would replace the engine air filter for $25.00. If your dealer offers the same thing, don't do it.

I went to Advance Auto and bought the darn thing myself for $11 and installed it myself (took about 45 seconds at most). I have 17,000 miles on my 4Runner and the original filter was just beginning to look slightly dirty.

What was odd is that I found leaves and bugs had somehow gotten into the snorkel thing that leads up to the air filter. That was kind of bizarre, but nothing got into the filter itself.
:p

The engine air filter costs less than half as much as the in-cabin air filter, even though it is heavier, thicker and undoubtedly costs more to manufacture. Maybe they are subject more to market forces and competition because several companies make them.......unlike the cabin air filters which are less common and are only made by one or two companies.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU!!!!
