Air intake chamber removal question

I'm in need of replacing a fuel injector, and I know I have to remove the air intake chamber to get at them. I've got the 4 bolts and 2 nuts that mount to the intake manifold off, as well as the bolt on the bottom-front of the chamber, and the two on the back connecting to a metal pipe...

I can't get it off, and I'm looking for advice. Anyone who's done this before have any words of wisdom?

Also, what's a good price for a fuel injector, and is it worth just replacing all 4 to be safe? I don't want to spend the money, but I've just done the cap, wires and plugs, and new injectors could add to the improvement...

The plenum shouldn't be to bad to get off. It's been a while since I removed one. Use a mirror to look underneath and check for bolts you missed. If everything's dis-connected try light taps with a deadblow hammer or a block of wood to break free the gasket.
If your parts truck ran OK before dyeing I would pull one injector from that. I wouldn't want to pay for 4 new ones and I wouldn't put only one brand new one either. A good used one is the way to go.

The parts truck is gone to the junk yard, and I sold the engine a few weeks ago, so my options are to go with brand new, or buy a set of used ones on ebay.

Thats too bad. I sold off 95% of my 1st gen parts too, or I would have hooked you up with one. I would go with a set from ebay or the recycler if the price is right. Unless you can get a real good deal on a new set. I know they are expensive.

What I'm wondering though is if I'd see an improvement in performance with new injectors, and if it's worth it. Even with only 3 cylinders firing my engine ran better after installing the new plugs, wires and cap. Now having done a compression test and finding my compression is better than spec and almost dead even (180 on 2-3 and 183 on 1, the dead one), I'm thinking this engine is in better shape than I thought, that replacing them all now might help it run better.

It definitely won't hurt that's for sure! It should run better and I think you should notice a slight increase in mileage too. So if you plan on keeping it for the long haul then go with a new set of 4.
