air intake....pretty sure I know but just checking

I'm looking to umm, clean up the engine bay a bit, the box between the manifold and the mas, is a silencer, correct?
and the other box by the air filter is also a silencer?
Thinking about going to the JY and swapping a diff vehicles air intake piping in there to eliminate boxes(and because they are cracked)

the mod you are thinking of is called the Intake Silencer Removal (ISR) mod, do a search and you can find out more. It might be tough to find an intake from another vehicle that is the right size and shape. Most people just make their own. I made mine out of Ridgid PVC moslty used for electrical undergrounds.

yeah, I searched that, and found the one between the filter and the box is a silencer, but what about the box under the filter? it has 2 hoses come out of it, can I just delete that and run those 2 hoses to a pipe?

Its all in the mod that he was talking about.

If you do the ISR mod and the deckplate mod, you'll notice a slight increase in power plus a lot more growl.

I think they are so expensive due to the lack of demand. I was going to pull a pair from the JY and take a look at what I could do with them. I have already figured a few ways to save some misc power, but still working on a write up

I tried the straws...couldn't take the heat and kept melting.:shrug: Looking at slightly larger asbestos lined straws now.

Ever try acid porting oem ones? Thats what I'm thinking....I did it to my toyota MR2 turbo's exhaust mani and free'd up 38 hp(have dynos, just not on comp) but thats turbo'd car w/ a ton of aftermarket parts... but I'm sure I can free up atleast 5
