air intake v6 question

just past the air filter on the intake is a tube leading off to the right side of the engine compartment... it connects right to the housing that the air filter is in..??

what tube is that??where is it going? what is it doing ??

There are several different V6's over the years so a good start would be to tell us specifically what you are referring to.
