Air locker question?

I was looking at an ad for an "Air Locker" and I was just wondering can you use them without even being in 4wd or do you have to be in 4wd?

Not that I have any interest in installing one but do they work well?

you can use it either way..what that does is lock your differential gears...

Meaning, that if one wheel looses traction, it wont spin freely, and the opposite wheel will still have power to it...
