Yes, the wheel well cut outs are excessive. There is that akward area of no support that I did find myself rolling onto at night. However, we still found the mattress to be comfortable for two people and our 80lbs. Pit bull. I previously tried sleeping in the back with a foam "backpack style" sleeping mat. I can say this air mattress is MUCH more comfortable.

As mentioned its here, it arrived, it obviously fits!
Overall it does the job. I've not slept in it yet, but will do when it gets warmer, and it'll certainly be better for the two of us than foam mats and what not.
First up the Pump. It's smaller than the previous one and doesn't "feel" as solid. That said it is perfectly adequate and has both fill and deflate options. I'd say it probably took a minute to a minute and a half to inflate, which is pretty good, the cable is generously long too, so you can use the 12V point at the front with plenty of cable to spare.
There is only one fill port, it's a friction fit one. I'd honestly expect more at this price (Truckbedz had two to make deflating a lot easier, they were also much beefier sturdy feeling screw fit ones, instead of this "pool toy" style push fitting) Like the Truckbedz it opens twice, once with a 1" or so open port, then with a smaller port with a one way valve for topping up.
It's worth mentioning that one of the options for these is a built in pump, but I chose not to take this route as it seemed like a potential future failure point.
After unboxing and unwrapping I inflated it. It's a tight fit, both sideways and longways. I can see why the Airbedz sales rep recommended the sturdier one "to save wear and tear".
You'll notice it is quite long....
Long enough that when fully inflated, there is no closing the tailgate!
Luckily by letting some air out it was able to close, get the amount right (it wasn't hard, I let bits out until it closed) the rest still feels firm as its squished by the tailgate closing.
Here it is inflated with everything closed, (the following morning after a -4 or so night) it held up just fine, still felt firm to lie on, despite the thermal contraction of cold air.
A couple of shots showing how high it sits. At 12" deep it's a couple of inches higher than the Truckbedz, so you re going to be more level with the windows (not ideal, but meh, I doubt I'll ever use this thing sober, and my windows are limo black). It's on level with the lower seat parts in their upright position, and you'd need to dig a bit to reach the door handles.
This part is not ideal, as suspected from my comments earlier, the wheel well cut outs are too long, (especially on the non gas tank side). I found you need to lie head at the tailgate end as there is more support for you body, and leave the larger unsupported bits for your legs. You could always pad it out with a jacket or something. Maybe "extra storage space" is a plus point. When there are two of you sleeping in the truck all the "stuff" has to go to the front seats/footwells anyway.
All packed up. It comes with a bag to store it in, hopefully keep the dust etc off. - that said I'll be careful storing it as my last one got eaten
So overall review, I'd say 3 Stars out of 5. I've detracted a star for the cheapy single fill port, and another as the fit isn't as good as it could be (their defence, 4Runner isn't officially listed, but hey I'm reviewing this in a 4runner (Surf!) context)
Don't get me wrong it's a nice product, but the cost cutting element of "one size fits all" is quite evident in the compromises with fit in out trucks.
Is it as good as the old Truckbedz product that cost considerably less? No, I'm afraid not... but as they are no longer available, it's probably the best option we have.
It DOES feel comfortable from my quick test, and had I not seen a product I preferred to compare it to I'd probably be singing it praises much higher.
I don't regret buying it, even though it was expensive, and certainly think without the extra $90 or so shipping and import taxes it makes it a more desirable purchase.

While I'm on camping type stuff... I also picked up an OEM Toyota sunshade form a Japanese auction site last year..
I thought it was pretty cool.. and give a bit of privacy through the untinted windscreen.
(Obviously not needed in the UK for legitimate sun protection)

Any idea if this fits in the back of a 3rd gen? And where to buy one?
Edit: Just called the company. She said the 203 would fit the 3rd Gen best but it's PVC and the least durable of the options. The 303 is longer and is more durable. She suggested pumping it mostly up, closing the hatch and then finishing the pump. She couldn't answer if the mattress fits sung around the wheel wells.
