Air suspension question

According to Toyota, the air suspension can raise the rear by 1.5 inches. Now on these boards, someone mention that the lift gives you the equivalent of a 3 inch lift. Now the chances are, this is an enormously stupid question, but when someone says a 3 inch lift, does that me an 1.5 on each side or was the poster simply exaggerating?

1.5 in is 1.5 in of lift but there is a way to trick the sensors on the factory air bag set up and get more out of them. But the best bet is to rip all that crap off before it costs you over a grand to keep it working. Every person I know with rear air has had problems and none of it was covered under warrenty and the cheapest part is the sensors at 400 bucks each.

No way man, I love the air suspension. Nothing worse than seeing trucks out there with full of passengers or towing and the rear sagging. I have a 100K platinum warranty, and down the road if it does break, than I will consider ripping it out.

Dont get me wrong I was going to fab up some air ride tech air for my rear but I could not get the articulation I wanted. I am just saying toyota air bags are junk. I love air my 51 Pontiac is sitting on air I love it. The system toyota uses has to many parts and to much electronics on it when it breaks $$$$$$$$

i'm not doing any rock crawling in Jersey, so I'm not too worried about that. Lots of things are $$$ when they break on these rides. More technology on them than the air bags, thats for sure. I read somewhere on these boards that someone needed to get a YAW sensor replaced, and they were out of warranty.OUCH! My theory has always been, not good to have a car payment and be out of warranty. If you are done paying for the truck, then you should have money for repairs. Good luck with your rig, and thanks for the explanation.

You just said what I have been saying my whole life the dealer should warrenty the car for the life of the loan. The hell with 3/36 5/100 if someone wants to stretch payments out of 10yrs it would actually make sense. On the flip side it would cut down on the number of dealers selling cars to people who cant afford them.

Aint that the truth. This is a time where many people live beyond their means, just look at home foreclosure rates!

Dont get me started on that. All I have to say is why should my tax dollars bail out some one who bought a house they never could afford in the first place but some dumbass mortage broker put them in a ARM and now I am paying him unemployment and the mortage on their house.

Welcome to america. The goverment will fix everything. Leave responisability at the border.

My air control went bad. Its a 2004 limited v8. Ihad the platinum warranty too, and they fixed it. It would have been $1600 if i didnt have the warranty.
