Airbag light ON with the key out of the ignitiion... no light when ON.

First off, this forum and community provided me valuable tips and time savings on getting my 97 4Runner in tip top shape.

Last night after fishing, I noticed the airbag light flashing when I turn off the engine, removed the key and locked the doors.
I put the key back in the ignition cranked her up and voila, no airbag light.

Did anyone experience anything like this? Any suggestion helps!

Well, this is a blast from the past. Here is a link to an issue I had that seems very similar to what you are experiencing.

Hope this helps. Seems you and I may be the only ones to have this issue - at least that I have seen. FYI my issue has never come back.

Air Bag Light on even with truck off - Help

The only time I had an airbag light on. I was working on the area on the passenger glove box and I believe I bumped the passenger air bag wiring knocking the passenger air bag connection loose or unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in ( was 4 years ago so kinda fuzzy). Once I pushed the connector tight again it never came back on. The good thing is the 3rd gen only have 2 airbags, so the isn't a lot of wiring to check.
