Airbags

Both the owner's manual and sticker on the sun visor say that the airbags are supposed to be checked/serviced at the 10 year mark, and every two years after that....

I haven't been able to find a thread dealing with airbags....so.....

Has anyone had their airbags checked/serviced at the 10 year mark, and if so, what's the process, and how much do they charge you for it?

My wife has a 98 that is undoubtedly due this year (150k miles); and I'm driving a 99 with 134k ....

Anyone?

Wow, I don't think I ever read that sunvisor. Good question. I don't know how you would check the integrity of the bag other than removing it.

my 99 has 134k also!

and the Toyota dealerships just want money. :P

nah, it's probably a good idea to get them checked. but not a fun thing to do...

They will probably hook the scanner up, check for any stored codes, make sure the airbag light works, empty your wallet, and send you on your way.

If there is any problem- even .2 ohms too high of resistance in the circuit- the light will come on!
