Proof is all over the place for those who want to research, as I said I posted that as my opinion. Of course this topic, is one mostly dependent upon presuppositions. How do argue with the person who lived after a catastrophic accident and believes it was because of the air bags...the presupposition is indelible.

So, I do not argue, I just my presupposition and let those who want to consider it do so.
Removing the fuse does not disarm the Airbag completely. The possibility for a short and accidental discharge exists.
The only sure fire way to be sure they will not detonate is removal, and destruction according to the FSM, and the method of disposal outline therein, should raise anyone's eyebrows as to the dangerous nature of the device.
Disconnecting all the sensors and devices is the second choice, but you still have a device that can detonate...even by spurious radio frequency interference.
If I could figure out a way to make a cover to hide the removal I would. It is a shame we can not make our own choice as to whether to use them, or not, and buy a replacement cover for the later decision. The nanny state rules...

I stumbled across this while searching for info on Suspension Airbags. It is full of mis-information, so I post my opinion and the info for disabling the SRS. The safety issue of the Airbags themselves as well as the information on the process for disabling seemed scarce.
I did not realize that posting on an old thread was verboten. It seemed to be pertinent info, especially in regards to the danger of messing with the system without knowing the procedure.
As well, I do not think the original question was ever answered, so I did. I guess I raise the dead.

No offense taken Doc, just a defense of my reasoning as you can see I rarely post, and in fact, did not join until recently because I felt no need to post. I mostly read, but this and another topic caught my attention yesterday, so I posted.
In fact, I broke my self imposed mechanical forum rules twice, I posted my opinion and not the facts. Although on both this one, and the other, I posted my opinion and facts, based both on experience and the FSM.
As you probably noted, I am overly opinionated...

...if you don't want to drive a vehicle with air bags, there are plenty still left on the road without them.... :cowboy:

or you can read the fsm and disable the system...
I just purchased a Ford Fusion Titanium for my wife. I love the vehicle, and test driving it was great, but for all the sensors and notifications which bombard you and are a distraction. I particularly did not like the sensors that warn of a blind spot vehicle (I prefer to check over the shoulder every time,) following to close, ( I think I am aware of when I am following to close,) and lane drift, (activated on every lane change).
I had to search for one without all the gizmachies that pretend to warn you, but which actually distract you. A difficult task I do like the back cam and warning system.
I finally found one that escaped the factory without having the sensors connected. An error on the assembly floor. Ford gave me 5000 off, in addition to a no interest loan, and the standard discount they were running. Ford thinks I am nuts for wanting one, and dealer offered to connect everything up.
So far, under 5000 miles, the vehicle has operated great and the most comfortable car I have ever owned, but for the low profile wheel and tires, which are slated to be replaced.
I am thinking this will be my last new car purchase. I am sure that collision avoidance, and automated freeway driving will become nanny state mandated in the near future, after all, we can not be trusted to make our own decisions and operate automobiles or motorcycles safely.
I'm assuming you were the one who made the "error on the assembly floor"
I agree with what you said regarding airbags, but I have a VERY hard time believing the car would leave the factory in that state. And Ford is the best of the American manufacturers for Quality to boot so I'd be double surprised.

I think you misunderstood. I seqwayed a bit... only the Titanium warning sensors failed to be connected, and the wrong mirrors were installed.
Believe it or not, this kind of mistake, and worse, happens all the time.
In fact, I once bought a Chevy truck, cheap, with a 302 engine, ID'd by vin number, only to find out years later, when rebuilding it the engine, that it was a 350. I also know someone who bought a jeep wrangler base model several years with the intent to build it out himself. When he started, he discover that it had e lockers already installed, sans, wiring, switches, ecu, and solenoid...
Because of the error, I have checked this vehicle out thoroughly, to make sure there were no other errors. My guess is the guy installing the particular parts, failed to see the model change because he was either texting( smile) or just a dolt. There is nothing wrong with the vehicle, and ford was honest with me, so I see no quality control issues, which they missed...it just got off the line without the particular models correct parts, and a supervisor decided it was more cost effective to ship it and discount it...to my benefit.
Now I have really segwayed from the thread intent.
