Just got my Airlift 1000's in today. A few notes:
1. Can do the install w/o taking coils off, but easier if you jack it up some get those coils expanded.
2. Forget a razor knife of any kind, to thing to do the job. I went at it with a coping saw, probably a med blade (#of teeth) and flipped the blade around so the teeth were going away from me. This gave me plenty of "biting" with the blade, and with the coping saw I was able to manipulate the angle of the saw to get in some really tight spots while hacking off the long bump stop.
3. Speaking of hacking off the bump stop, can't just hack off the 3rd one up and go on your way (LOL, it falls down and the coil and your stuck). Figured that out on the 1st side, and then played hell trying to chop up the bump stop while its rolling around inside the coil
4. When "squeezing" the bags into the coils, I found it easiest to go about 1/2 way up the coil, and squeeze the bottom (nippled side) in and then force the rest of the bag in and down (can get more leverage this way obviously, in some very tight spots, by pushing down instead of trying pull the top up).
I'll take some pics of how I'm going to finish everything in the rear cargo area as right now its just "hanging" around. I'm still going to use the switch plate cover idea (and its working well right now), but I need to get a box to screw the plate in instead of mounting it to the floor as I originally intended to do.
I'll keep adding some more notes as I think of them. And BTW, they do give about a nice 1" lift (running just below 30lbs), and do have a nice kind of "airy" feel with regards to bumps. I do still plan on tweaking the psi, and I still have to get my spare on which is going to add some weight to the equation, so we'll see what happens then. So far though, really happy with the purchase, and overall install wasn't to bad except for a few "doh" moments.
EDIT: Added a pic of what I finally decided to with in the rear cargo area. Metal electrical box/plate painted with some left over silver wheel spray paint I had laying around. Also went around the tubing indicated in the underneath pic with some krinkle flex tubing and cleaned that up a little more. currently running 30 psi on the drivers side and 25 psi on the passenger.
