Airlift 1000 on a 2014 4Runner

Hi all,

I have been lurking on this site and finally decided to join. Lots of great information. I have done a few searches and couldn't find an answer to the following question.

Presently, I have a 2010 SR5 with 120k miles. Recently, with the help of this forum, I installed an airlift 1000 and really like it since I tow a lot.

Am considering trading to a 2014 SR5 in a week or two. Naturally, I would like to install an airlift 1000 in the new vehicle. According to their reference chart, they don't show an application for the 2012-2014. I called them and the guy that I spoke with gave me a generic answer that was useless.
My question is; has anyone with a 2014 4Runner successfully installed one of these systems?

I don't have the airlift kit but I'm pretty sure that the underside of the truck hasn't changed. You should be able to run it.
 
on a side note.. how has your truck treated ya with that many miles? i'm always curious with new vehicles when people get up there in mileage

My understanding is they only changed the front fascia, rear fascia, and the rocker panels, everything mechanically is still the same, especially since they haven't needed to modify the lifts for the new versions. You should be fine. I run Airlifts on a 2012 4Runner for almost a year without any issues.
 
Yeah, I was also informed that there has been no change in the coils. You should be fine. I'll be getting some too for my '14 as well. I'm kind of leaning towards the Firestones though.
 
Yes, I have them on my 2014 TE. Install went smoothly.

I installed the airlift at the same time as my ToyTec suspension lift. Install into the stock coils should be no different than the Toytec coils (same diameter).

I also chose to mount them at the top of the coil rather than the bottom. If the air bag manages to shift lower in the coil, there is risk of damage to the tube fitting or air line. I've had no issues with this to date, but YMMV.

Thanks for the pics. I have mine mounted in the bottom on stock suspension with plans to lift it this week. With the lift did you still cut the rubber bump stop inside the spring at the top? I know I had to cut it with the stock suspension setup but not sure if I need to replace them with ones uncut to get the spring height difference back.
 
I did cut the bump stop as recommended with stock. The air bag takes the place of the material removed. Since the lift doesn't call for "extra" bump stop, you're good to go with either stock bump stop and no airlift bag or the equivalent cut bump stop with airlift bag.

Do note that the instructions that come with the airlift kit have a disclaimer about performance in off road use. I don't have it in reach right now, but I took it to mean that the airlift bag, while durable, is not engineered to resist the same bottom out impact as a solid rubber stop.
 
Reviving an old thread, I know. So is the airbag supposed to bear on the bump stop? Or is there supposed to be a gap between the inflated airbag and bottom of the bump stop to allow some articulation before they touch? My TE was higher than average in the rear so I may only cut off one or 2 sections of my bump stop is why I ask.

Definitely shouldn't touch while vehicle is at rest. Don't have a pic handy now, but could snap one tomorrow
