Alarm issue after radio install

Hello all

I recently installed a pioneer radio and everything seem to have gone great except until I tried to lock my doors using the alarm transmitter. It is an aftermarket unit which was already on the truck. Its an Automate 552. Seems like the system is completely disabled. I did disconnect the battery during installation, and everything else works great, even the steering wheel functions. This is on a 03 V8 Limited. Any ideas on what to check for? I can start up the truck fine, and lock the doors using the key on the door, and the anti theft light does go on and off as before.

hmm, guess I take the dash apart again so make sure all the connections are fine, and then maybe go to an installer to see.

might be in valet if it is a full security system.

open the door
hit lock
then hit unlock
then hit lock

that should take it out of valet.

if not drop the dash and check the fuses on the security system

Thank you for the suggestion. I did try it but no dice. I am able to set it into Valet mode, using the valet mode button, and according to the LED status it is off, or at least should be. I did plug in the factory radio just to rule that out, but still nothing worked.

While I was double checking connections I did find the remote start module, with the ignition key inside, but that all seemed okay.

I have to try to find the actual brain of the system to trace all of the wires. I ran out of time this past attempt, but from looking at all of the splices I did not see anything loose.

I don't think I said anything loose. I do see me saying check the fuses.

No you didn't, I just went and checked anyway since I thought that could be it. I found the fuse that is for the immobilizer bypass and that one was fine. I need to find the others.

So I finally got around to tracing the alarms wiring harness and found two issues. One was a loose wire that looks like it was poorly connected. Easy fix. The second was after removing all of the electrical tape and unraveling the wiring harness I found a set of wires that were cut. They were cut by me when I was removing the old FM modulator and XM receiver wiring. I cut them because they were part of an antenna that was mounted in the A pillar which I thought was for the old XM radio FM modulator that was installed but not used. Turns out that antenna actually belongs to the alarm system. Mind you the installation manual for this particular alarm mentioned nothing about a XHF antenna, so I was convinced it belonged to the XM receiver. After smacking myself a few times :fish:I looked online, ordered the antenna, and it all works again.
