Alarming VSC problem

So this was a surprise issue this afternoon. It's hot and humid out today, but the streets are dry, and as far as I can tell, I didn't break traction before this issue happened. I took a sharp right from a stop, no chirping the tires or anything, and a few moments later (going straight) the VSC light started flashing and beeping like crazy. I was going about 20-25mph, and it only stopped when I slowed down to a crawl or pulled over and stopped. Once I started moving, the same problem would start again. I tried driving through the beeping assuming it was just a nuisance -- we were 1/2 mile from home, and at low speeds it was still driving normally -- but the system started automatically applying the brakes once I approached 30mph. It felt unsafe enough on the second time the brakes kicked in that I pulled over and shut the truck off. Started it back up right away and the problem seems to have resolved itself after that.

Anyone else ever experienced this problem? Any advice? (Aside from doing the AndyMod, not sure about whether or not I want to do that yet.)

I'm going to take it back out around the neighborhood in a bit and I'll see if the problem recurs. Wasn't a super big deal on residential streets on a Sunday, but I'd hate for it to kick in during a commute at highway speeds.

I assume your runner is lifted. Have you ever re calibrated the VSC to zero after the lift. Mine was fine for awhile then my VSC started to give me trouble. (2001) so I re calibrated by jumping electrical contacts in engine bay (google to see video or search on here for exact pins to jumper) mine was fine until I lifted it again so I did the andy mod.

The truck is at stock ride height, no lift. Your suggestion makes sense, but this runner is new to me and thus far it’s pretty stock.

Drove it around again yesterday and nothing happened. Headed to work today — fingers crossed it was just a fluke!

Update: So the shop told me I had a C1234 code, which indicates something is up with the yaw rate sensor. Going to try the VSC recalibration procedure and hopefully that will help. (Sounds like the yaw rate sensor can go out even without a lift.) Will report back! Thanks for the suggestion deves2.

Well ****. The VSC kicked in again today while I was on backroads taking my dog to the vet, and after pulling over and restarting the car, the VSC OFF and VSC TRAC lights both went on and stayed on. Ironically, seems like the VSC isn't kicking in anymore (I'm guessing that's what the "VSC OFF" light means... heh), but now I'm probably looking at a bad yaw rate sensor at best. Tried to recalibrate the system but it didn't seem to do anything -- unsurprising as you are supposed to wait until the VSC TRAC goes out before you do the procedure, but mine never did.

Looks like yaw rate sensors are discontinued. Anyone have any advice on whether or not to get a used one, or whether new ones are still available?
