Hi guys, i've been browsing/reading/gathering information over the last month or two while I shopped for a 4runner and today I finally picked up my new rig. Its a 2003 limited fully loaded with xreas and ras. The previous owner was pretty meticulous so its in very good shape for its age. 150k kms (I'm canadian eh) with timing belt, water pump and belts done at 133k.

I'm super stocked to start modding here and there. Goals aren't to extreme just a nice comfy daily driver with some extra storage options and ground clearance. I do lots of hiking and camping in the rockies and have two border collies so mods will have that stuff in mind.

I appreciate the info i've gotten so far and the info I will receive from you guys!

Sweet 4runner and welcome to the group. I just recently bought the exact same year and my modding is slowly taking over. Im totally going to be going for the extra storage mods as i have a boxer and 2 small kids. This sight is amazing for the knowledge available and the help is easily aquired from all.

Lots of local stuff on CT4WD like stated but mostly calgary based.
Check out this for Edmonton local group with lots of knowledge and a few yota techs on there as well. We do alot of weekend runs around edmonton and short weekend trips around alberta. Lots of family and dog expedition trips to.

For you and your 2 dogs this might be a must for you to keep the stellar shape you havenow in the rear.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! I'm excited to be here and so far this first week of driving my 4runner I can't stop smiling. Ive never driven a bigger vehicle or suv before but its not nearly as large and clunky feeling as I expected it to be.

Hope to get a few things done this weekend to make her feel like mine finally. Probably remove the carbon filter, and add a k&n filter at the same time. See what else I can accomplish in this bitter cold weather.
 
Managed to get a few things done over the weekend. Starting to feel more and more like "my" vehicle now.

Went in to have a browse and left with this unit. Picked up the tato toyota jbl module as well as a metra double din face plate.

About three ish hours later working outside in -29c I got everything wired up and working nicely.

Then added a few interior accessories. Dog barrier and a garbage can to keep things tidy.

Next weekend i think ill order front and rear weather tech mats and toss in a k&n filter. Also debating over getting rims and tires or just using the oem rims with new duratracs. We will see.
 
wait, did I read -29C?! I wouldn't be modding my 4Runner in that weather.... you win the hardcore modder award in my book.
 
Haha yeah -29c is correct, it actually warmed up. I work outside on the pipeline and we got shut down saturday because it was -45. I was inside the truck mostly but had to keep starting it up to warm things up. It got cool quick with the heat off.

Last night I did the hcf delete mod and tonight I stopped at crappy tire and picked up an elastic cargo net on the cheap. Used the rear grab handles and the back headliner edge to attach it to the roof for some extra storage space, it fits tight enough to the roof that I can't see it in the rear view in the back window.Just need to trim the extra. Will use it to hold a rain shell, car blanket and maybe some other light things so that it doesn't hang to low. Pics to come once I complete that.
