Alignment before or after ?

Okay guys,
I have been changing up my truck over the last week. Lifted the front suspension to a full 3 inches and the rear accordingly. Also installed a Toytec 1in body lift. I am currently running Trd Pro wheels and 265/70/17 Nitto G2 tires. I have new SCS SR8 wheels sitting in the garage and getting Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285/70/17 installed next Saturday.

I know that body lift doesn't effect my alignment but the added lift does.

My question for any of you is this.I am going to install my new UCA this afternoon and then I was going to take to alignment shop as soon as possible with current wheel and tire setup installed. That way I get my new tires and wheels on and done.

Then I started to think maybe I should do alignment after new tires and wheel set up. I really dont think doing alignment first would effect later. But maybe im wrong since offset and contact patch of tires could possibly cause alignment to be off.

To wait or not wait. That is the question.

Thanks in advance for your answers and I'm looking for people that actually have experience with alignments. Not guessing. This also could be just as debatable as the chicken and the egg, lol

I did my alignment before new tires were mounted. Once it's set , it shouldn't matter what rim and tire you put on.

I ended up going right after putting my lift on to get an alignment. My 4Runner is not a daily driver, heck not even a weekly or monthly driver so now I wished I had waited a while for it to settle then go get an alignment. With that being said if you are going to drive it. Get it aligned after the UCA's. I went to Firestone and they will align it every 6 months for $189 one time fee. That way if I add a bumper, change the height etc don't have to worry about paying for the aligment over and over.

I usually like to do it all at once to save the trip to the alignment shop. You're putting in new wheels and tires next week anyway. What's a few days rolling on the old tires that you're probably won't be using after.

If cost of the alignments is the issue find a shop that will do a multi year alignment.

I got one a NTB a couple years back with an older car. I believe it was like $150-$170 for 3 years. Just go back in and they take care of it for you.

Thanks for the replys. Money on alignments isnt the issue. And driving it isnt an issue. I have other vehicles that I can drive. I just was trying to keep things going ahead of the wheels and tires.

Ideally, you would want to do the alignment with the new wheels and tires but given that there isn't a huge tire size or wheel offset difference, you should be fine either way.

Unless you're having the alignment done at the same shop as the wheel balancing I'd wait. Reason being if you have any issues with the ride after you put the new tires on you're dealing with only one shop. Saves a headache with trying to diagnose vibrations, wheel hop, etc which are known to happen on any vehicle. You usually get a bettter deal when everything's packaged together too but you'd have to check.

I talked to the guy at the alignment shop this morning. He also recommended that I wait until after I install the new wheels and tires. So that is what Im going to do.
