What do you mean 'get the most out of it'? Do you just want to make your 4runner reliable or do you want to make a rock crawler or make it aesthetically pleasing? What are your goals basically

i wish i could make it a rock crawler, only 2wd, but i mean i wanna get more power, reliability, better gas milage, basically an all around very well running strong car

As ar as reliability you can't do much better than either the V-6 or the 4cyl available in the 3rd gen. These are very reliable vehicles. Better mileage, keep it stock proper inflation of the tires. Some say the deckplate mod or a CAI increase mileage but usually by 1-2 mpgs. Biggest difference you can do for mileage and really monitor your driving habits.

People always talk about properly inflated tires but I've never seen any discussion on what that actually is. There's the numbers on the door jambs, 32lbs i think, but doesn't that only apply to stock? Dont mean to thread-jack...but yeah...
