Last week I sold a my 79 CJ7 with a reman AMC 304 V8 for $5000. I need something to put a carseat in. Today, when shopping for a 01 Cherokee, I came across a 01 T4R with 175K for $4500. During the test drive, I noticed the 4WD dash light was flashing. The seller told me it was selector switch on TC, and he had the part on order. I placed a deposit down on the truck. Should be able to pick it up Tuesday.

I read the tread on what to check for and basic maintenance. Planning on doing the seaform, plugs, wire, oil change, coolant flush, trans drain and fill, place air filter, clean MAP, reset EFI, and maybe a TIMING BELT / WATER PUMP.

I think that is it.

$5K for the CJ, isn't that more than it was new :)
I had a 79 CJ5 (with the 258) and later an XJ.
$4500 for the 4runner sounds extremely reasonable, make sure they fix the 4wd problem before you buy it.

And welcome to T4R.

Ended up being the actuator, and the dealer wanted 1K to fix it. I walked.

Later that night, I found a 02 T4R with 161K in GREAT condition for 5.5K.

Don't forget to service your diffs and transfer case, also check your ball joints and bushings in the front end, bad things can happen to the lower ball joints, especially with age. You're right at the interval for timing belt, I would just do it and the pump.. Other than that, it sounds like you got it covered and welcome to the forums!
