Almost Birthday Time...Opinions

what to get...

So getting close to my birthday, and my last year of college. I would like to get myself a present with the help of my parents. I camp frequently up at school (Pruitt Ridge, Big Sur, etc). and do mild offroading.

Looking at these things. Give me your opinions! Looking at around the $400-$500 range.

Roof Rack - Probably a loadwarrior with custom mounts to make it sit on my rails. Possibly a Bajarack.

Front shocks - Adjustable billy's to replace the s**tty tokico's I have currently.

Bumper - Probably a used plate bumper or maybe addicted tube bumper

Tires - Probably cant afford new tires, so used 265/75/16's. Maybe squeeze some new Yoko Geolander At/s's. Don't need tires at all (these damn wrangler rt/s's don't seem to wear at all), but I'm sick of these puny things on my lifted T4R.

Since you don't need tires, I'd say do the 5100's ($200) AND a Mule Baja Rack (around $300) :cheers:

Can't go wrong with a bumper though either...
 
$100 worth of 30 packs, some suspension, and save the rest for when your a$$ gets kicked out of the house when you graduate.
 
Racks are cool and I've thought about getting one, but most people don't even use theirs and MPG will go down slightly. I say tires because they will change the look of your 4runner a lot. You can always sell you current tires and get some yoko's or Treadwrights. Other than that I would go Billie's and sliders.
A bumper would be cool, but they are going to cost the most (granted you are going plate). I like function over form for big purchases when money is tight. Racks and bumpers are form granted you aren't wheeling hard or carrying a lot of stuff, while tires and shocks are functional every time you drive your 4runner.
 
I say go for the front suspension. If your suspension is bad now, it's only going to get worse if you add a heavier front bumper.

You make a great point. Being completely honest, I can fit all of my camping gear perfectly in the back every time so a rack is pretty useless. I probably couldnt sell my tires for that much as one has been patched. I would like to get some new tires for sure.

And I didn't even think about sliders...

Its not bad like blown or anything, I think it would hold a bumper up fine, with the new billy's I just would like a little bit better of a ride and be able to get rid of the top plate spacers in there. Do you think the billy's would help a lot vs my current tokico's

Hard to say since I've never ran a set of Tokico's. The 5100's are pretty nice though. Don't think you can go wrong with a set of those.
