With some frustrations built up about gas prices, I pulled into the Acura dealership last night to look at a new 09 TSX. I took it for a test drive and really like the feel of it. I had my mind made up, I was about to trade. We started discussing numbers and they were looking over my 4Runner. When they came back with a trade in value is when things went sour. They offered me 16500 for my 06 Sport Edition 4x4 with 30k miles! I knew gas prices had really hit us hard, but I guess I didn't realize just how hard. I walked out kind of disappointed. After getting back in the 4Runner and driving home, I realized that I was so glad they offered me a low number. I would miss my 4Runner every day! It's worth so much more to me than 16k and hasn't given me a single problem to date. I can live with gas prices for a couple more dollars anyways, beyond that maybe I'll have to get me an older car to drive daily. I'm so happy that I didn't trade!

You did well. :bigok: If the T4R drives 20k/year @ 15mpg and the Acura does the same at 24mpg that's a difference of 500gallons/year.
The $$$ they offered you on trade is, say $5-6k, low due to the depressed SUV market. If you traded you'd take it in the shorts to the tune of roughly $5500.
To ease your mind take your $5500 and distribute it over the next 2750 gallons of gas you purchase. 2750 gallons is 41250 miles @ 15mpg.
So for the next 24+ months you gave yourself a $2/gallon discount by NOT buying the Acura. When the pump says $4.79 you get to think $2.79. When 24 months is up we'll be drilling and ridiculously high priced fuel will be a thing of the past.

I've been to three of them over the past 2 years to look at the TL's, and all three times I left there just mad as hell. They're pushy, they're hard-sellers, they think they're the only car maker that matters or has anything worth a damn to offer. And we all know that's just not true.
