Almost no volume, then it comes back on...

Hey to all, I have a 2003 4Runner with JBL and 10 speakers, the sound quality has never been good in my opinion, it's better in my Tundra...Anyway today I am going for a ride and notice I have no volume control. The radio works, barely hear it. CD player works, no volume...

I get to where I am going, turn off truck come back in about an hour, get in and now I have volume control and sound...what gives???? Any suggests... poor ground, age, weak amp??? thanks in advance, CSM-H

The next time this happens, I'd suggest trying to adjust the fader front, back, right, left to see if the radio is communicating with the amp.

If it won't fade, I'd say you may have to replace the amp.

dude h7009, u sound like me! haha me and my dad have an 07 tundra, a 99 4runner, and guns...LOTS of guns...haha

Do a search here - there was a TSB (AU003-03) on the '03 JBL Amp. Mainly for crackling but it also cut out. While under warranty they would have replaced the Amp with a different # one. Too late to get it FREE now - and bet its a $300 item.
