LC Coils... check ($40)
Tundra Front set up... check ($50 for both struts)
Diff drop on the way
Panhard drop bracket on the way

I'm wanting to lift it this weekend, does anyone know of any low end rear shocks i can throw in the back without breaking the bank?

does anyone know of any good threads that explain exactly how to remove my rear shocks? i'm kinda worried about this part.

will i need a spacer for the front set up?

anything else i should know before doing it?

any comments would be great! thanks in advance guys

Don't get too worried about changing the rear shocks, it's actually quite easy. There are a lot of forum members from CO too, I'm sure if you put a thread out asking for help you'll get some.

100% agreed. The only reason they would be hard to change is if you were saving the old ones. It would be a pain to get them out without ruining them. I used a combination of bending and cutting to take mine out. Bent first, then held it back the direction I bent it, making it easier for my dad to reach in and cut it off with the sawzall. Took 5 mins on each side.
 
I went with Rancho RS5158's because I had a Promo Code on an auto warehouse site. So I got them for like $50 for both plus shipping.

If You want to go cheap, and still good, I've really enjoyed these Rancho's and haven't had a problem with them yet. With my 891's...however, I'd look for a longer shock than my 5158's because they are only 1 inch longer than factory, and your LC's will really be stretching them. More than likely I'd go for the LC replacement Tokico shocks.

Not sure the extension length on them or anything though, so with LC coils it could be stretching them an extra inch.

Also the rear springs and shock replacement is really easy. I'd say it took Me and a friend 15 minutes or so each side. Just jack up, unbolt and knock each out. As far as the front, as long as You have a front differential (some argue it's not needed. I got it and my CV boots still tore and leaked oil) everything should go smooth. The differential drop comes with a skid-plate spacer so everything should bolt right back up as before just lower is all. If You think the drop didn't make much difference, then add a couple more washers on top of the spacers they send and test accordingly.

thanks for the replies. i guess i'm stressing more than i should. i guess i'll do the driver side rear shock first to see if it goes smooth and the rest should be easy.

do you think my rear end will be a lot higher than the front? i'm doing the stock bilsteins from the tundra trd for now untill i get some 5100s... should i add a top out spacer?
 
Yeah you should do a spacer. With just the Tundra coils you will have 1.5-2" of rake depending on the LC coils you got.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. That's the problem with the Tundra setup and L/C rear springs. Your back end is going to be hiked up noticably more than the front.
 
cool thanks. just emailed toytec and they said i can go pick up the spacers from them since i'm really close to them (no shipping, no waiting, winning). just need to find where i can buy my rear shocks here in the city... the bilsteins at autozone for the rear of a LC are no bueno?

Do you mind revealing the source of the $50 Tundra fronts? I'm in Lakewood. I've got my LC80's and eventually need to collect the rest of the Tundra/LC lift stuff...
 
dude i got lucky and had to drive to pueblo. i did find another set at another yard in wyoming. they might ship them to you. i'll figure out what yard it was and pm you. other yards were quoting me $100 each one. i was on the hunt for about a month or so, don't bother calling all the yards in denver, already did last week and on one had them.
 
You want to use a set of brand new shocks as a placeholder for a period of only one week? I think you know my answer..
 
well patience didn't work for me... i got the cheapo shocks anyway (not bad at all).
