i have a CDA 9853 mp3/wma/cd head unit.... the CDA 9855 looks exactly the same only thing is that the display looks different.... and it has bio lighting so u could choose what color you want it to be at night... does any one know if the CDA9855 face will fit on the CDA 9853 ??

No, you can't swap face plates, but there is a way to change color on your 9853. You have to go to the alpine website, and I believe there is a way to change the settings of your head unit online and then download to a cd. I'm not sure what options there are, but you should be able to pick between green, blue and amber. I've found that most places that sell the 9853 don't even know about this.

if you want to change out the 9853 for the 9855...like i did, you have to re-connect the alpine harness, they are not the same so you have to cut out the old one and try and make the same connections with the new one, it is a pain in the ass. I just hooked up my xmradio to it and it works great, i also have my ipod connected to it and love it.

Okay, I'm a moron. You can only change the time correction, EQ, and crossover control online. I guess the only models you can change color on are the DVA models.
There might still be a way to do it though...sorry if I got your hopes up.

no worries man... all i really wanted to change was the little buttons... like the mute, play/pause button and the light around the knob... i wasnt really feelin the green color on it but anywyas... is it necessary to change any of these? would you recommend doing any changes to the time correction EQ and crossover control? if so what should i change?

No, as long as it sounds good to you, then I woudn't mess with it. I changed my time correction and I actully liked the way it sounded before I changed it.
