Alpine Type-S 6x9s

Anyone ever try installing Alpine Type-S 6x9 speakers into the fronts of a 4th gen? I wanted to make sure they weren't too deep and would fit. I know you need to play with the factory brackets, I'm mainly concerned about them fitting in the doors.

IT SHOULD FIT, I HAVE ALPINE TYPE R 6X9 IN THE FRONT..

got a question for you...what model tweets are you using? are you using them in the OEM places as well?

I would encourage you not to use the Alpine type-S 6x9 as they are coaxials (3-way). You need a proper component set that uses an external tweeter element to have a good soundstage.

I would tend to agree but anything is better than whats in the non-JBL system.

For the money you really cant get a better sound setup. Also if you chose to use a component system, you could use the 6.5's in the rear and tweets in the OEM locations while keeping the 3way 6x9's in the door.

I have JL tweeters, dont remember the model#. yes they are in the OEM location. I Dremeled out the factory tweeters and fit perfectly into the same backet

I have the type S 6x9's installed on my runner and they sound quite good. I used the old 6x9's as a base for the alpines, and i just had to trim a peice of the plastic edges around the inner speaker grill on the door panel to fit it snug.

exactly how mine were done.

Ditto on the install, on the 6.5 rears I left the the outer plastic ring of the OEM's workout nice. If only I came up with the dremel pattent. Use the R's not the S type IMHO.

I listened to the R's and actually chose the S's due to their overall sound being a 3 way versus that of the 2way Type-R's. The R's certainly do have the high power handling but I just didnt see the advantage in the price/performance ratio.
