Alpine vs. Rockford

I got one of the packages from BestBuy over the summer...2 12" P1 Rockford Fosgate subs, 975W Rockford amp and the Q-Logic box...total was about $350...it all got jacked about a week and a half ago...so i went back to best buy...and the package they had was 2 12" Alpine Type-E subs, 400W amp and the Q-Logic box...same price...but the savings was about $240 (if u bought it all separate...the alpines...even with half the wattage hit sooooo much harder...i cant get my alpine HU volume past 19 with worryin about the subs...with the Rockfords...i could get it to 27 on some songs...I listen to alot of rap and hip-hop on sirius...and u lose some bass through the satelite transmission...if u are lookin for good subs...go with the Alpines...you will not be disappointed...

second that, but the E's dont sound all that great to me. nor my friend who bought two. They are cleaner than th p1's though. And when you talk about wattage, compare the RMS not the max.

i had never heard anything bad about rockfords...so i went with that...after all the time and energy i have spent with my stereo...the guys at bestbuy were offerin me a job...since i have tested and installed more products than some of them...bestbuy can kick ass sometimes...and other times...like when it took them 9.5 hours to install my viper alarm...they suck ass...

apparently you didnt look much. JK, but basically almost everyone that is into car stereo hated them for either sending their labor to china or herever and selling out to BB. The first might have changed. Also I think their subs sound pretty bad. Personally. I think they might be able to make some decent amps though, especially on the higher end ones. I heard they redesigned em a few months ago and now they're better.

i got 2 12inch rockford fosgate punch 2, that are 4 ohms each, wired them together to make a 2 ohm load, and powering them up with the p3001 amp, it hits pretty hard, girlfriend b mad at me wen i crank my system up. but all i paid was 100 dollars for each sub, 150 for the sealed box and had it carpeted there at the shop, i helped out since the owner is family to me lol, and all i paid was 350 for the box and subs, and another 220 for the amp, it was 195 +25 bucks to install since they messed my wires up from my old phoneix gold sapphire amp, in the end i paid my amp months ago, but i juss got the subs this last month, so im tryin to enjoy the loud music that can give me a massage, now im waitin for my ported box to come.

Honestly,

I would go with the rockfords for the simple facts that the Rockfords are better at what they do than the low rent E-class alpines.

Personally I'd find a local shop with something other than Alpine and Rockford... neither one of those will ever be hooked up in anything I own. Rockford was alright back about 7 years ago, but now...eh. Alpine head units are nice, but I won't ever buy their subs. Maybe an alpine amp but I doubt it.

9 hours to install a viper alarm on a toyota? Damn. Everything is at the fuse box on a 99 with the exception of the door trigger. I did a Viper 791 on my 00 in under 2 hours... thats remote start and everything....Yet another reason to find a local specialty shop.

I worked for a private shop when I got out of college, they had a contract with the local toyota delaership. I was doing 10 alarms in an 8 hour day into toyotas. the hardest car /truck at the time was the land cruiser b/c they stuck the door trigger al lthe way up in the dash. If you know what you are doing, you can install an alarm into a toyota in 20 mins...for remote start ..add 15. but thats if like i said you know what you are doing and worked on toyotas before...time is always money

I guarentee you could do an alarm in 20 min in a toyota if you were doing them all day long. What takes time is having to look at the wire colors on and find them, but when you are doing the same cars over and over, you get to bypass all of that.

About a year ago my shop had a contract with the local GM and we were slamming drop down tvs in Tahoes, Yukons, etc in 30-45 min tops.
