Found this photo Facebook. Which one of you crazy people was driving this 4Runner. You win the biggest balls of the year award.

Really? Everybody and their mother poses on that rock and takes pics. If the BLM had an issue with it I'm sure they would have posted it by now.

I think it's more the whole "parking over the edge" thing. They're talking about how people are going to try to replicate it and die.









...If someone in a 3rd gen 4Runner tries to replicate this and dies I may be interested in purchasing some parts.
 
So what's the next thing to happen if he drives forward a little bit? The front wheels will go over and he'll high center himself on the edge. He got several feet to go before the danger of tipping over. And if he got to the balancing sweet spot somehow, then he can just roll the back window down to shift the center of gravity back and down enough to take another cool photo in safety.

Sounds reasonable considering it's a 1500 ft drop. I was 4 feet away from the edge and that was it for me. I didn't need to pull any further forward.




The original picture posted above is obviously photochopped.

Yep, I don't even care. I'm not even going to be 4 feet from the edge. I don't care how great of a photo op it is.
 
That ledge is somewhat of an optical illusions. Is is actually quite a bit more room on the left side then the right, so it may only be one tire hanging off the edge. Either way still too much for me. I'm wondering if they attached a winch cable to the back while positioning it/backing it out.

Words from someone that also wheels and seems to know a thing or two about it. I dig it. I don't see what the big deal is about the photo. It adds a little drama since it's high but we've all driven over steps with undercut hundreds of times. If I was really worried about dying I'd have asked for a strap to another rig but anyone could have driven up to the edge like this. More than anything it's a mind job but only if you can't get a grip.
[MENTION=102715]CrazyNorwegian[/MENTION] your correct but I think you got it flip flopped. There's normally more space on the right than the left. I had to swing in and hug the edge on the passenger side to get the front tire to the corner. Other wise it would have left the passenger side looking like it was a foot from the edge.

The view is totally worth it. I recommend that trail even if you don't want to wheel it.

I was more off to the left then you are, but then again I really wasn't paying that much attention to anything but my spotter. I agree with you on it being a mind game. I could go do the exact same thing out on the curb in from of my house and not think twice about it. But, hell people thought I was crazy for where I ate my lunch when I was up there.
