Alternatives to dealer service?

Can anyone offer advice on getting service from someone other than the dealer? The vehicle in question is an '04 Runner, 6 months old with 16,000kms.

I can't stand the dealer experience but want to make sure that any alternative service shop won't compromise my warranty and is knowledgeable on the truck.

What do I look for in a shop? What questions do I ask?

Anyone in the Toronto area have a recommendation?

how about using a different toyota dealer? not all are bad. just a suggestion.

Check with local shops, the only problem with them is they don't have a clue when it comes to Toyota Fluids, also check with other Toy Dealers, your at 16,000kms thats what 7000 miles you just need an oil change rotate the tires

The local dealers are trying to get over the "stealership" image by doing minor services (ie. oil change) at a competitive price. I'm not sure where you bought, I use a stealer because I don't want to mess with it until it's after warranty. Their cheaper than alot of lube shops. The GTA is a big area but take a drive if you want and go to Cambridge Toyota.
