alternator and lift question

guys my alt. went out today and i would like to put a bigger amp one in there. I am going to be putting some electronics in there and i want it to be able to hold up. the biggest i can find at a parts store is 70amp. does anyone know where i can get a bigger one that will fit. or has anyone put two in their 4r?

I have an 88 with a v6 soon to be 7mgte from one of my supras. also would like to know about some lifts. what do you guys like? i am going with a 4inch suspension. but not sure what brand. who has the most compatible? thanks for all the info guys

If the brake and charge lights come on during revving of the engine then it's a sign that the carbon alternator brushes require replacing as this is the mileage for them to wear out. In alternators the brushes wear out on average every 140-170 000 miles where on the dashboard the brake & charge light both come on at the same time. About half of the auto electric shops in your local yellow pages sell carbon alternator brushes and copper solenoid starter contacts for about $5/pair.Another way to verify that the alternator is not charging is while the engine is running bring a metal screwdriver or any metal object near the alternator and if the alternator is working properly then it should act like a magnet and grab the screwdriver.

Sidney thanks for the help. thats a lot of info. another question for ya. did you used to be on the yahoo groups for tv repair? or the electronic repair forum? i am not sure how many sidneys are in nova scotia, but the guy i am talking about is named sidney too!!! I was in the tv repair business but not anymore. small world huh!!!
