Alternator Removal

I am replacing the alternator on my '97 4Runner, I can not get the wire harness plug to come out. Any suggestions? believe it or not it appears to be the original alternator

How did you make out? I'm stuck there at this very moment. What a pain in the arse this is! Mine must be original too..

I had that same problem when I tried to change mine. What I found worked quite well was just remove the alternator with the plug still attached. Once you have it unbolted you can twist it down and get a good angle on the wire clip with some pylers.

Did you do a factory OEM replacement?

your the man! plug came out at a diff angle.. I had mine rebuilt.
