Always on cig lighter/ power ?

Whats up, long time listener first time caller, just got a new 4runner 04' and whats up with the cig adapter turning off with the car? Almost everyone in my family has a new cars ranging from a suburban to a explorer and now one else's cig adpater turns off when you turn off the car. Anyone know why its just toyota? and how can i correct this? The dude needs to charge his phone!

Do a search for the wiring diagrams that were posted some time back. It should be as easy as shorting out the relay that switches the power recepticle on/off.

I'll do a search but im wondering if just running a line w/fuse from the batt is a easier solution...guess I'll have to check the wiring diagram to see.
