Am I neglecting my runner??

I have a 98 Limited v6 with 178,000 miles on her. She runs great now...no major problems so far besides having to replace the AC compressor in the middle of summer (Florida heat owns me). Recently, after returning from a vacation, I noticed a couple drops of oil where the truck was parked...but It isnt leaking every day and I can't seem to pinpoint where the oil came from. I plan to use a stop leak additive when I do my oil change with mobil1 synthetic tomorrow morning.

What I've done:
Right after I bought the car 4 years ago at 125k I did the timingbelt/water pump and had the trans fluid drained and filter cleaned. I've had to do the MAF sensor clean once. I recently did the plugs at about 175k...I do not believe the previous owner ever had them done.

Outside of regular oil and filter changes and what's stated above, I haven't really done anything to the vehicle. For the most part i'm just doing daily driving. I make a 500 mile round trip drive about once ever 8 weeks. I tow a 4,000 lb boat a dozen times or so times over season to the local lake, but no long trips towing. I'm not afraid to spend money where its do and I'm willing to take on some of the manageable DIY maintenance.

What would you guys reccommend I do next? I really want to have this thing running good for another 50k or so (till my next one :biggrin2

These things are built solid so neglect is a bit harsh, i'd suggest doing the diffs,t case, and hitting the zerks with a grease gun. Really if you just go by the owners manual you'll always be up to par on maintenance.

These don’t really have things that fail out of spec so if it's driving well and handling fine all is good in the world and drive with no worries.

Doesnt sound like you are neglecting it or beating on it. Are you sure its oil and not diff fluid from a blown seal? mine had the same problem and it didnt always leak or even a lot. Also with 178k on it and seldom Pulling a trailer, it could quite possibly make these blow with the added stress and age of them, since its a common problem with these trucks id check that first. I would strongly recommend not putting in a stop leak additive IMO those fluids/chemicals are just all bad.
